GIVEAWAY: Baby Sign Language in Play Class Series

Have you been thinking about using sign language with your baby or toddler? Baby Sign Language is an incredible way to bond with your child! It decreases frustration for babies and parents by giving your pre-verbal child a way to communicate her needs. But perhaps the most incredible reward for signing with your baby is that it gives you a window into your little one’s personality and a view of how she sees the world. Imagine your baby signing MUSIC to you out of the blue to let you know she wants you to sing to her… Or signing DADDY to you in the middle of the day while dad is away at work, to let you know he’s thinking about his dad! Many parents will tell you that signing with their baby has been one of the most bonding and rewarding choices they made during their child’s early years. And that’s where Portland Early Learning Project’s (PELP) Baby Sign Language in Play classes come in. PELP’s Baby Sign Language in Play classes are designed to get families started on their signing journey keep them going!

Baby Sign Language in Play classes are just that – play-based classes that excite families about using American Sign Language (ASL) signs with their babies. AND PELP’s classes are the only classes in Portland that are taught by Master’s Degreed Speech-Language Pathologists, which means that families also learn a wealth of information on child language development and strategies for incorporating signs into daily life. Through songs, play, and strategy discussions, families learn how to sign effectively, increase the intimacy of their interactions, enhance concept development and verbal language development and understand how their baby sees and enjoys his world!

We are so excited to be giving one lucky family a FREE Baby Sign Language in Play Class Series!

My son completed the first PELP series, and signs are a common form of communication around our house! I’m hoping to expand our vocabulary, as he’s eager to “tell” us much more than he can verbalize!

I would love to take this class with my girls. They know some basic sign language and communication is already much less frustrating. We’d love to learn more, and have fun while doing it.
