The election is heating up and Duck really wants YOUR vote!
He organized protests, and taught the cows to type. He lobbied for vacations and won mooovie nights. Now he’s running for the highest office in the land. Fed up with farm chores, Duck decides to challenge Farmer Brown to an election, only to discover that being in charge of the farm is hard work. So he decides to run for governor—and then president—kissing babies and hitting the latenight talk show circuit along the way.
From the authors of Click Clack Moo and Giggle, Giggle, Quack, this musical features showy campaign numbers, barnyard election antics, and great lessons about civics and responsibility.
In the midst of a real presidential campaign, Duck for President offers a great opportunity to teach kids about civics. OCT will run a mock-campaign for Duck leading up to the production. Like real election campaigns, there will be campaign videos, news reports and interviews, and likely a gaffe or two as Duck wades into the political waters! Follow his progress and find out Duck’s stance on such issues as the environment, foreign policy (he recently met with a delegation of geese from Canada), and energy conservation at www.duckforpresident.org or on OCT’s Facebook page.
OCT will also conduct a straw poll at both school and public performances to teach children about voting. Kids will have a chance to use real voting stations to vote for actual presidential candidates and results will be announced on stage after each show. In addition, select school classrooms will work with OCT to practice presentation skills by writing and delivering their own campaign speeches.
