Q. What is your favorite thing to do in Portland with your kids?
A. As much as we love Portland (see below), one of the things we love about Portland is how close we are to so many great places. We love going to Mt. Hood and the Gorge and out along the Clackamas River to go hiking/exploring/camping. That is my favorite thing to do with my kids.

Q. What do you like to do on sunny days in PDX?
A. Explore our wonderful parks, picnic/throwing rocks in any river/creek we can find, zoo, Oaks Park, my boys particularly enjoy going to a playground and making obstacle courses and having me time them.

Q. What do you like to do on rainy days in PDX?
A. Children’s Museum, OMSI, libraries (for events and to get books), staying home and playing games/building a fort/playing with Legos.

Q. How do you balance being a dad with other priorities (work, hobbies, etc)?
A. I’m lucky, I can bring my kids to work with me. Unfortunately, my kids don’t always see it that way! I’m also lucky, because I love my work, and it is my hobby. The one thing I always try to keep in mind is that my kids are number one. That always helps me keep things in perspective.

Q. What’s your favorite story/memory of being with your kid(s)?
A. We went camping last Summer, just the three of us, and we had a blast. We got to do most of our favorite things (hiking, hanging out at the river, playing games) and we wrote a really silly song about pancakes that almost made it onto the new Alphabeticians CD (maybe it will make the next one). Also, I personally enjoyed it because they were really well behaved and helped out with all the work involved with camping.
