Just how hard is it to learn to play a musical instrument? Come find out at the funky, fun, family-friendly puppet musical TUNDE’S TRUMPET, featuring ingenious puppets and live jazz trumpet! At the Community Music Center in SE Portland, August 2, 3, & 4.
Kelly Clarke wrote of Tunde’s Trumpet in the Willamette Week:
“A wild array of funky puppets annoy, cajole and distract a talented 10-year-old trumpet player in this short, jazzy kids production from Boom Arts. Tunde (Blake Stone) has the heart to become a true musician, but first he must vanquish five challenges, including frustration and jealousy, in order to reach his potential. Powerful singer and storyteller Ithica Tell and live trumpeter Jon Roberts help anchor the can-do story, while puppets cleverly crafted from old piano keys, bungee cords and bedsheets charm grade-school-aged viewers.”
Tunde’s Trumpet is about an hour long and is best for kids ages 5-15, but all are welcome. The Community Music Center is located at 3350 SE Francis Street in SE Portland.
