About Café au Play
Café au Play is a nonprofit community center coffeehouse that serves as a gathering place and support center for families, caregivers and children in Southeast Portland. The coffeehouse provides a welcoming environment where adults and children can gather on a daily basis, develop lasting relationships and exchange resources. Café au Play provides the community with programs for children and adults such as parenting workshops, art & music activities, and story times. Another important aspect of Café au Play’s mission is to facilitate community between generations including young adults who are sometimes segregated from younger children. As part of our efforts to reach out to young adults, Café au Play has developed a Volunteer Barista Program that provides high school and college students with job skills training in coffee and cafe operations and encourages young adults to interact with children and families.
